The director wanted a moody, top-lit look for an actor in front of white limbo. I love a challenge. I had my gaffer bring a 6K space light, and we wrapped it in grid cloth and hung it directly over the actor. We then blacked out the floor to create deeper shadows. The blacks and some rigging were removed in post.
We shot this as a 1:30 dolly move over 25' of track, on a 40mm Ultra Prime. As we ended up less than 2' from the actor's face I lit the set to T8 to give my assistant an inch or so of depth of field at the end of the move.
This was shot on an Arri Alexa in Rec 709 "WYSIWYG" mode. There was no additional color correction, I created the look entirely in the camera.
